My name is Kate Brennan and I am the new PK-4 teacher. I was raised in a small suburb North of Milwaukee and I have seven siblings. I earned my BA in Art Education (K-12) at UW Milwaukee. I taught art in the Milwaukee public schools for 3 years before moving to Illinois after marrying my husband. I fell in love with teaching preschool children while working at Dominican University's Early Childhood Center. At this age, children learn best when they are having fun. Preschool teachers get to create entertaining, engaging and creative classrooms that promote learning as well as social, cognitive and emotional development. I earned my master's degree in Elementary Education at Dominican University. I taught at a Montessori school in Oak Park and a preschool in Riverside.
We lived in Oak Park before moving to North Riverside. Our family enjoys visiting the North woods of Wisconsin, art fairs and many of the farmers' markets in the area. We are parishioners at Ascension in Oak Park where our daughter was baptized, received Holy Communion and Reconciliation.
