Hello, I am Sundy Urban and I teach general music here at Divine Providence School. This will be my 31st year at Divine Providence and my 37th year in education. I received my Bachelor of Music Education from Illinois Wesleyan University and began my teaching career in the public schools. After starting a family, I began teaching in Catholic schools finding a renewed love for teaching, along with a great staff, wonderful students, and the close family feeling provided by Divine Providence School. I believe that music is a integral part of a child's education. I strive to bring enjoyment of music to each of our students. Music helps in forming a well-rounded individual and gives many children a chance to succeed and build self-esteem.
All classes Pre-S through Grade 8 will meet twice a week this school year. I am very excited about the new technology additions to our school and hope to utilize some of these in my music classes. I will continue to use the Music Express Magazine and Music Alive Magazine as part of our curriculum. These magazines introduce our students to a wide range of music activities while staying current. All students will be singing, listening, playing, and even dancing to express themselves through music. I look forward to a great year here at Divine Providence School.
